Heroic Rangers Go Through - GRFC 1 KERRIA SPORTS 0
The Mighty Rangers progressed to the 2nd round of the FA Sunday Cup with a hard fought 1-0 home win over Wimbledon based Kerria Sports, who domited possession for long periods but Goring's defence limited them to a handful of clear chances.
Rangers started the opening minutes the brighter of the two teams without threatening the visitors goal, but it wasn't long before Sports got into their stride and started to control the game with their full backs becoming more and more influencial in their attacks.
Goring were struggling to keep the ball as well as they normally do and Kerria's best chance to score came midway through the first half when the two forwards combined well to release the left winger who had a clear run on goal. Paicey came out and the Sports winger's shot flew past him but rebounded off the post.
Kerria continued to enjoy more of the ball but Rangers were defending well and looked to be heading to half time at 0-0. That was until a ball into the penalty area saw Migs get the ball before the Sports defender who brought him down and the referee awarded Goring a spot kick. Aaron Meehan took responsibility and buried the penalty superbly with what turned out to be the very last kick of the first half.
At half time Manager Castro identified the full backs being a danger and switched formation to a 4-3-3 and it seemed to have the desired affect as the Goring performance improved remarkably in the second half and although the visitors did enjoy the greater possession, Paicey in the home goal remained largely untroubled.
It was infact Goring who had chances to extend the lead, the best falling to the returning Gio who's header from an Axy corner was brilliantly stopped by the Kerria keeper.
Kerria kept attacking to the end but a superb battling performance from the Rangers defence kept them at bay and Rangers came away with a famous 1-0 win to put them in the draw for the second round.
Castro was delighted after the game; "This is a fantastic result for the club,to win this game and to be in the draw for the 2nd round is just unbelievable."
Castro continued; "I'd like to thank everyone involved today, and a big thankyou to Gav and Kay who opened the bar for us and helped out alot and also Claire,Sarah and Lauryn for working the kitchen. Today was a real big team effort."

Rangers Dumped Out Of County Cup - GRFC 1 LEWES BRIDGEVIEW 3
Rangers suffered their second defeat in 2 games, going down 3-1 at home to Lewes Bridgeview, not helped by the no show of regular keeper Matt Paice who was too pissed after a night of trying to trap Tom Pickford's cousin Adam (..or Neil)
Nicky Brett did the honours and took up the gloves but failed to stop the visitors going ahead against the run of play after 20 minutes when a free kick from the left hand side of the area slipped through his grasp and into the top corner.
They weren't behind long though and Woody, who found a babysitter in time to play the game sent a free kick flashing across the box only for no-one to get a touch and the ball fly into the far corner. Goring failed to build on this though and minutes later were behind again, this time nothing Brett could do about a bullet header from the Lewes captain following a corner.
Rangers created very little in truth but nearly levelled in the second half when Hunty's lob over the keeper was cleared off the line but the game was finished when the unfortunate Nicky boy watched a hopeful 40 yard punt from the left bounce over his head Paiceyesc!
Brett; Stokes, Pickford, Di Paola(D)(capt), Harwood; Quirosa(M) (Meehan), Brown, Castro, Axell; Clement (Di Paolo(S)), Hunt.

Rangers Carrott Makes An Appearance - GRFC 7 FRESH 3
A far from convincing Rangers performance just about saw them squeeze through to the next round as they attempt to retain the Trophyman Cup.
The Rangers faithful will be wondering if the days of past seasons have returned when a juicy carrot was regularly dangled to the supposedly weeker opposition but manager Castro, who's vain, despite the performance suprisingly didn't make an appearances will be hoping it's just a one off with 3 huge games coming up.
Rangers started the game faily decently, retaining the ball well without really hurting fresh until Asa opening the scoring after a cross from Axy was nodded to him by his strike partner Clacky.
Fresh hit back qickly tho and were level when they won the ball on the edge of there area and release their loan striker with a long ball which caught caught the two Rangers statues centre halfs cold and he finished well.
Goring had to make two substitutions in the first 25 minutes but it was one of those replacements who put them back in the lead. Paul Brown returning in the hunt for fantasy points scored a beauty with his left foot after good work from Asa and they went into the break with a 3-1 lead thanks to a simple header from the gaffa from an Axy cross from the left.
The half time talk (mainly about Migs' divs bird from last night) went out the window when early in the second half another long ball found their forward in acres who again made no mistake.
Clacky got his first of the season to put the Rangers two clear again but Woody thought he'd make it interesting when his back header perfectly teed up a Fresh player to lob the ball over DJ Spaice to once again give them hope.
Fortunately though the team stepped on the gas in the closing minutes and added a further 3 goals, 2 from Clacky to complete a hat-trick and a dubious goal for Asa which could go down as an own goal as it appeared he needed a lot of help from a defender to head the ball home at the near post.
Paice; Leaver (capt), Di Paola(D), Pickford, Brett (Harwood); Quirosa(L) (Hunt), Castro, Meehan (Brown), Axell; Clement, Nicholson.
Focus on this Weeks Opponents - Fresh FC
Fresh FC were formed only a few years ago in 2007 and it did'nt take them long to get out of Division 4 as they won promotion last season coming runners-up behind Wisborough Green.
Fresh are managed by Sam Cannon and he could'nt of wished for a better start to the season as Fresh sit in 1st place in Division 3 and are 100% including their win over Splash last weekend in the Invitational Cup.
Fresh have scored 14 goals in 4 games and conceded 6,their top-goalscorer is Mark Allen with 5.
Meehan Hat-Trick Secures Win - GRFC 4 Rustington 0
Aaron Meeham managed to just about eclipse his performance of the previous week and produced a superb first half performance in which he struck 3 times to virtually seal a win over Premier Division title rivals Rustington at Stadia De La Fernhurst.
Rangers were slow to start but took the lead on 26 minutes when Meehan's shot was too hot for the Rustington keeper to hold and it squeezed over the line.
That goal gave the team some confidence and they were two goals to the good just 6 minutes later. Axy picked the ball up just inside the Goring half and delivered a ball over the top for Clacky to chase. The club's no.1 DJ beat the Rustington keeper to the ball who could only bring him down in an attempt to clear the ball.
He got away with only a yellow card as there were covering defenders and despite Duncan Barnes' record from penalties it was Meehan who dispatched the spot kick to make it 2-0.
Rangers and Meehan still had time to get a third before half time when he surged into the box evading three visitors challanges and slammed the ball home from 12 yards to make the gaffa's half time team talk that little bit easier.
Castro's assistant Dazza rallied the troups at half time but some of the players (mainly Leaver) look tired in the second half.
They still managed to stay fairly comfortable with Andy McCarthy's shot over on the turn the closest the visitors came to scoring all game and the Rangers put the icing on the win when Castro set up Acy who had come on as substitute for his first appearance of the season to cooly slot home.
Paice; Leaver (capt.) (Di Paola(S)), Di Paola(D), Pickford, Brett; Quirosa(L) (Mayhew), Castro, Meehan, Axell; Clement (Nicholson), Barnes.
Axell hits 3 to defeat Arun - GRFC 5 Arun Athletic 0
Despite the scoreline it was a fairly lacklustre Rangers display against a team which on their day Goring should have beaten by a wider margin. The team weren't helped by the performance of midfield general Meehan who was hanging out his a*se.
PB gave the team the lead with another gift from an opposing goalkeeper and Axy made it 2-0 at half time with a Drogba like finish from a Nicky Brett cross!
Goring stuttered in the second half with really only Migs coming out with a lot of credit after a tireless display in central midfield.
They were able to add 3 further goals though. The first a neat finish in off the post from La Roux after a decent run into the box from the left. Axy added 2 goals in the last 15 minutes, the first a nice curling effort from outside the box and the second a simple finish after he benefited from a ricochet in the penalty area.
Paice; Brett (Quirosa(L), Stokes, Barnes, Di Paola(D); Leaver (capt) (Brackley), Meehan, Quirosa(M), Brown; Hunt, Axell.
Rangers Open With A Win - Ajax Kings Arms 2 GRFC 3
The super Rangers started with a win for the first time in 3 seasons beating a strong Ajax Kings Arms 3-2 away from home.
This was despite falling behind in the first half when static defending allowed a home forward to head home unmarked.
Hunty equilised on his debut, half volleying home from outside the box and minutes later the reds were ahead when a goalkeeping error present Browner with a chance he couldn't miss.
It was Browner who made it 3-1 in the second half when Axy picked him out with a cross from the left and again he was left with the simple task of putting into an empty net.
There was still time for Rangers to dangle their customary carrot when they allowed Kings Arms some hope in the final minutes by conceding a late goal but held on for a vital win.
Paice; Stokes, Pickford, Di Paola(D), Harwood; Leaver (capt) (Brett), Castro, Meehan, Brown; Hunt, Axell.
